a look at 57 ... 20 Years later ...

I like topical as much as ANYONE, but rediscovering Passenger 57 on the Encore Channel in the middle of the night, I couldn't help but weigh in on this Wesley Snipes gem from 1992. Did you even REMEMBER he was an "action star"??! ... Yeah, me neither.

Anyways, Passenger 57 was about as bad as I recalled, ranking somewhere between God Awful and Unwatchable ... even under camp or nostalgic pretenses. Crappy villain. Stupid premise. Hammy everything else. It's pretty much exactly the same film as 1994's Drop Zone, also starring Snipes, but at least Drop Zone had Malcolm Jamal Warner AND Gary Busey ... I'm just saying ...

And doesn't Wesley's flight attendant/love interest in 57, played by "who cares?", look just like Michael Jackson? Awesome! ... and Creepy. But, if nothing else, she NAMED the unnamable movie by literally counting the passengers aloud (cuz that's what flight attendants do, apparently) - " ... 54, 55, 56 ... 57 ..." (Snipes was #57 ...  At least watch THAT part. It's totally worth it)

Nevertheless, for everything Passenger 57 did wrong, it still offered up one of the (still today) most laughably terrible catch phrases in action movie history:

Hahahahahahahahahaha .... oh, gosh .... Stay up late, people. That's when TV is at its FINEST.

A Heroes Welcome on Hawaii Five-0

Daniel Dae Kim never had to relocate after ABC's hit show Lost (shot in the Aloha state) wrapped back in 2010. He immediately took up a badge and the role of Officer Chin Ho Kelly on CBS's successful revamp of Hawaii Five-0. This season, it's been awesome watching him share the screen with recurring regular Terry O'Quinn, his former fellow island castaway John Locke. However, H50 is yet to a give any wink or nod to their shared heritage. WTF?!

Is it that Hawaii Five-0 doesn't recognize a golden fun scenario when it's staring them in the face? No, that's definitely NOT the case as this past Monday featured a guest star from ANOTHER hit show of the Lost era ... Greg Grunberg, formerly known as Officer Parkman from NBC's Heroes.

Masi Oka, who starred as Hiro Nakamura back on Heroes, was upped from semi-recurring character, Forensics expert Dr. Max Bergman in season 1 of Hawaii Five-0, to now a series regular, and the brightest part of this new season 2. And H50 did NOT waste this spectacular opportunity to showcase a SPECTACULAR reunion between him and Grunberg:

Such good stuff!
I dare you not to grin. I DARE you!

Catch Hawaii Five-0, Mondays @ 10pm on CBS!

a Savagely funny experience ...

Not sure if you watch Happy Endings on ABC, but if you don't, you really should be. It's easily and absolutely one of the top 3 funniest shows on TV right now.

This week featured a scene where Alex, played by the super cute Elisha "who knew she was actually FUNNY?" Cuthbert, is trying to have a quiet evening at home watching The Princess Bride with her new boyfriend. Unfortunately, she's finding difficulty enjoying the time with the unwelcome live actor's commentary of one Fred Savage ... Yes. THAT 'Fred Savage', who's 'making himself at home' not only solidifies one of the GREATEST TV cameos all season long, but the guy also directed the episode as well.

SOO glad this show came back for a 2nd season!!

Happy Endings airs Wednesdays @ 9:30 pm on ABC
Set your DVR ... or ... Whatever. It's 2011. Fuck you.
(if you don't like the show,  I'll take you to a fancy dinner)
