Sister-Sister: Take Two - The REVENGE of Tia & Tamera

It's been a long time coming, but I'm super happy it's here - the most Functional Twins in Hollywood are back on Television with their new reality docu-series Tia & Tamera.

The show had its premiere this past Monday night on the Style Network (E!'s ugly little sister) and it chronicles 2 of the largest milestones in the Mowry sisters' lives: Tamera planning for her upcoming wedding, and Tia getting ready to give birth to her very 1st child.

I've ALWAYS loved these girls. Especially Tamera (she's in my top 5), but it honestly took me longer than expected to warm up to this show! They don't live the lifestyle of excess, like Paris Hilton or the Kardashians. Nor are they "real-life" zany in hair-brained adventures like we know from their 90's sitcom. So the painfully contrived opening scene where T&T are 'dress shopping', griping over leaked engagement photos, and establishing their "We're Twins, but we're SO different!" personas was nothing short of arduous. I was prepared to write the show off as a complete waste of time had it continued in its redundancy.

However, about 15 minutes in, we get to see the larger world in which the sisters exist, most notably Tia with husband Cory, and the show starts to mean something. The two make a really cute, funny and endearing couple, and it's interesting to see them try to manage baby, family, and acting career. (Tia also stars on BET's The Game) And it's the scenes with Tia & Tamera, when they finally forget the cameras, open up, and become real that remind you exactly why you tuned in.

All-in-all, the premiere episode was refreshingly genuine. Tia, Tamera's Maid of Honor, was dropping the ball, what with her full plate, and Tamera was torn between sisterly loyalty, or giving the job to her best friend who'd been picking up all the slack. Good stuff, with notable cameos like Tia's Game co-stars, and real life celebrity friends like Candace Cameron.

If you love the Mowrys, The Game, or just shows about wedding / baby planning, then you will definitely want to catch Tia & Tamera.
Monday nights @ 9 pm on Style.
